Professor of Practice at Villanova University

Dr. Ross A. Lee is a Professor of Practice in Villanova University's Sustainable Engineering program in the College of Engineering. He teaches graduate courses in Sustainable Materials and Design and Biomimicry and advises cross discipline research at the capstone, MS and PhD level. Ross led the introduction of the PhD program in Sustainable Engineering in 2016 that has graduated 6 PhDs with 4 more close to completion and 6 new PhD students. The program is characterized by effective internal and external collaborations to achieve cross discipline sustainable engineering solutions with significant impact. Ross also teaches in the Engineering Entrepreneurship program that includes a summer institute that contributes to needs outside the US such as Panama (2024 location).

Ross is a lifetime member of the American Chemical Society, a member, presenter and panelist to the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE), and has published and presented at the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), Engineering Education for Sustainable Development (EESD), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) conferences.

Ross' academic background includes a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Rochester. Prior to joining Villanova University in 2008, Ross was Director of Technology and New Business Development for DuPont, retiring in 2009 with over 36 years of service.

He has authored or coauthored over 40 publications and patents comprising new technology, products, and businesses and more recently new sustainable engineering solutions based on master and PhD level research along with new educational initiatives.
