Technical Professional-Industrial Collaborations at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)

Sana Elyas is a technical leader with over 13 years of experience in advanced manufacturing and materials, specializing in advanced composites, additive manufacturing (AM), mass-balanced materials, and high-rate manufacturing technologies. She currently leads Industrial Collaboration at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), where she fosters key partnerships for the Composites Innovation and Sustainable Manufacturing Groups at the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF), a DOE-designated user facility. With over 11 years of experience in the U.S. industry, she has worked across sectors such as aerospace, clean energy, transportation, home appliances, and advanced air mobility, focusing on scaling innovative technologies in advanced materials, additive manufacturing, hybrid materials, and digital manufacturing. An active volunteer and STEM advocate, Sana serves as Vice President of the Society for the Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (SAMPE) North America and as a STEM Advisor for the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Smoky Mountain section. She holds a Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Wichita State University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Aeronautical Engineering from the Institute of Aeronautical Engineering in India. Sana has
received numerous accolades, including the 2021 SAMPE DEI Leader Award and the 2020 SAMPE Young Professional Emerging Leader Award.
